In this special marine region, the coast and ocean itself are part of the tribes' rich heritage, and they provide a deep and substantial knowledge base and cultural memory.

MARCO Tribal Caucus

Objective

The purpose of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Council on the Ocean’s Tribal Caucus (Caucus)
is to coordinate collaboration related to ocean and coastal management across Tribal,
State, and Federal Governments. The Caucus will also coordinate Tribal guidance on
MARCO priorities and implementation of specific MARCO projects.

All Are Welcome

Tribes, Tribal members, or Tribal representatives within the Mid-Atlantic region or
with an interest in coastal and ocean management issues in the Mid-Atlantic are welcome
to join Caucus meetings.

Outcomes of Tribal Caucus

  • Regional coordination of tribes through enhanced learning, communication and support
  • Identify priorities of concern for Tribes and address knowledge gaps

  • Enhance Tribal voices in MARCO’s committees
