EdProfile2016.jpgMARCO is pleased to announce the arrival of Ed Camp as our new Ocean Data Information Manager. In his new role, Ed Camp works in collaboration with the MARCO Management Board and staff, the Portal Team, agency staff, and contractors to advance the continued development and maintenance of the Mid-Atlantic Ocean Data Portal. This includes a range of technical tasks associated with spatial data and information updates and maintenance, as well as serving as the key MARCO point person on Data Portal outreach and engagement.

Ed’s career in GIS began while a Master’s student at the University of Delaware’s Graduate School of Marine Science, followed by receiving NOAA’s Coastal Management Fellowship, a 2 year GIS project that placed him in Louisiana’s Coastal Zone Management Program.

Following his Fellowship, Ed applied his GIS experience in private industry and local government settings, primarily using GIS and GPS to build utility, land use, and e911 geodatabases. He also led training, user guide creation, and created other instructive collateral to facilitate use by stakeholders of varying technical experience within those organizations.

Prior to joining MARCO, Ed independently contracted GIS portal development, data management, and cartographic services to Energy, Civil Engineering, and Real Estate Development industries.
